Countdown

I'm now under 90 days from my due date. Woke up with a back ache and tired from waking up several times during the night due to charlie horses and various pains. ugh. "the joys of pregnancy"--that's a joke right?

Andre and I interviewed a pediatrician this morning. She seems very nice and the office is great--even open on Saturdays. Plus, she said she'd give us two prescriptions when one twin got sick, since most likely the other will eventually get it too. Wow, two sick babies eh?

We've been trying to get everything ready. Andre and I put up one of the cribs last night. I finished one crib dust ruffle too. It looks really cute. I need to girlie-up the room though. As soon as the mural is done we'll be able to do more.

Just Arrived back from Houston

Well we just had our first baby shower. We went out east to have a brunch with the Houston branch of Mr. Mono's family. We had a great three hours at a little cafe called Chatters. We will post pictures soon, but it was great to see that side of the family.

The trip was a bit long, so Mrs. Mono is relaxing in a nice lavender scented bath, one that is getting regular ripples due to the girls kicking up a storm.

Ah yes, good times.

Dos Monos in love

I made this for Mono on our last anniversary. Its just a collection of photos of our various shenanigans.

Andre playing the bagpipes

This is Andre playing the bagpipes at Eeyore's Birthday Party in Austin. Our friend Will is in the background--looks like he's already heard this one. :)

Our Wedding

This is a little video from our wedding May 20, 2006, in Kyle, TX.

Baby Update

I'll be 27 weeks this Monday. Wow, time is really going by fast. Andre and I had another ob appointment yesterday. Everything looks great on the sonogram. The doctor thinks the babies are both about 2 pounds each now. They've been moving a lot and I'm having lots of little aches and pains. He took more sonogram pictures, but they're all just of the tops of their heads, so that's a bit boring to post.

I'm looking at working for another 2 weeks and then working from home until they're born. I have two weeks of hearings that I really need to preside over. I'm the agency's administrative law judge, which is fun, although honestly I'm hoping most of the people don't show up so we can get through the hearings quickly. I'm finding it more fun to be an advocate than a fact finder.

Twins

I'm now 25 weeks preggers. I should have started this blog earlier, but oh well--shoulda, woulda, coulda--right? Hopefully this blog will help us keep in touch with everyone and easily share pictures, comments, etc.

Here's a quick recap: Mr. Monkey and I are expecting twin girls.

This picture is from October--they are much bigger now and no longer fit into the same sonogram picture. They're due April 29th, but we've been told they might arrive as early as the end of March.

Here's the most recent picture of Baby B--Eveyln. Baby A--Rowan was moving too much to get a good side view.

We're both very excited. They will be our first and yes-also our last children. Which is great because I can't imagine being pregnant more than once. I know some women just looove being pregnant, which to me makes absolutely no sense. I do not like to waddle, I do not like to swaddle. I do not like it in a tree. I do not like it on my knee. No, I do not like pregnancy. --that was my tribute to Dr. Seuss "Sam I Am." I thought I'd spare you, dear reader, the litany of gruesome complaints.

Anyhow, pregnancy aside, I am thrilled to be having two girls. Andre's first comment on discovering they are both girls was, "We're going to be broke." Our nurse reassured him by telling him not to worry if we really wanted boys, "there will be plenty of boys around--especially with twin girls." ha Andre gasped, "but I don't want those boys."

He's actually very happy they are girls and already has big plans for them. He's been learning new songs on the bagpipes to play for them, but he can't decide if he wants them to learn to Scottish dance or play the bagpipes too. I think they should be allowed to decide for themselves and I'm sure this will win in the end.

We've been working on their room as well. Since they are our only children, I decided that Andre should be able to have his dream nursery--Pirate Princess. Creating a pirate-princess theme has actually become rather difficult though. For some reason, Babies R Us does not have pre-made baby bedding for little girls who want to be pirates with a princesses sense of style. So the theme has become somewhat of an ocean theme. I found this ultra-cute octopus chair for them. We're hoping to have a mural of an ocean painted in their room and I've been sewing their crib bedding. Its really cute little orange fish on a blue background. Even my grandmother has said she'll crochet a baby blanket with little fish.

Speaking of which, its absolutely amazing how many things a new baby "requires." I can't possibly imagine how our species evolved without the Graco pack-n-play or in the very least a papasan infant bouncer. I have also recently discovered that our living room is an absolute death-trap. Seriously, we're going to have to do a major child safety overhaul to protect our two monkeys.

Andre has been working on finishing up various projects around the house. We had to replace our downstairs toilet--it hasn't been working very well since the big pirate party we had for Andre's 32nd b-day. And he's replacing the downstairs carpet with wood laminate floors. In addition, he's been making beer and wine for our friend's upcoming wedding. Unfortunately, he accidently dropped the glass carboy, thus spilling and losing 5 gallons of red wine on our kitchen floor today. What a mess.
